PART I : THE ALBUM
Recently, Mike Boyle, a life-long, full-time
musician from the Fox Valley, was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. His
first symptom was the loss of all movement in his left arm and hand. Without
proper treatment he may never play guitar again and since his diagnosis,
he hasn't had the means to support himself.
In support of Mike, local artists
are coming together to record a Beatles tribute album in which all proceeds
will go towards "the benefit of Mr. Mike". The album is featuring Fox Valley
Favorites such as The Weavils, Vic Ferrari, Boxkar, Annex, Andy’s Automatics,
Helen Exner and Copper Box. The CD also featured reunions of The Cool Waters
Band, The Electric Bananas
and a grand finale of all musicians involved.

PART II : THE SHOW
The album release date coincided with a benefit
conert at Waverly Beach in Menasha, WI
on Feb 22, 2008. The show featured Vic Ferrari,
Boxkar, and Boogie and the Yo Yoz
as well as other special guests. The show
started at 8pm.
A $10 donation at the door went towards
the Benefit of Mr. Mike.

We had an EXCELLENT session with Marc
Golde at Rock Garden
Studios in Appleton this past Saturday cutting The Beatles'
"Rain" for a CD entitled "Being
for the Benefit of Mr. Mike" which will be available at Mike Boyle's Benefit
at Waverly Beach in Menasha on Friday 2/22/8.
We did three takes and went the the first as it had more energy and
just felt right.
John got to play a REAL B-3 though a Leslie and then a REAL grand piano
while
Dean played on an AMAZINGLY INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL drum kit!
Geppy was the harmony KING as he nailed ALL backing vocals, putting
up a Rundgre-esque wall of vocals and holding an amazing closing note for
16 bars to FLOOR all in the room!
Jeff nailed guitar and vocal lines right off the bat.
Rough mixes are in hand and we are excited about the finished product.
Unfortunately The Weavils were NOT be on the bill for the benefit.
